Fundraising Support Through LA Surf

LA Surf recognizes that families and teams may want to create fundraising opportunities to support players, team activities, travel, events, equipment, or other approved soccer-related needs.

 

Because these requests may involve LA Surf’s nonprofit status, insurance, field access, facilities, name, logo, payment systems, and organizational oversight, all fundraising activities must be reviewed and approved by the club before anything is promoted, booked, collected, or operated.

 

This page is designed to help families, teams, and staff submit a formal fundraising request so LA Surf can review the opportunity, understand the details, and determine whether the request can be supported safely and properly.

Important Overview

LA Surf cannot simply lend its 501(c)(3), insurance, tax ID, field permits, logo, or name to an independently run event.

If approved, the fundraiser must operate as an LA Surf-sanctioned activity with appropriate club oversight. This protects the organization, the team, the players, the families, the facility partners, and everyone participating in the event.

All requests will be reviewed based on:

  • Alignment with LA Surf’s youth soccer mission
  • Safety and supervision requirements
  • Facility and insurance considerations
  • Financial controls and proper accounting
  • Use of proceeds
  • Vendor involvement
  • Marketing and communication needs
  • Legal, nonprofit, raffle, or compliance considerations

Submitting this form does not guarantee approval. A member of the LA Surf team will review the request and follow up with next steps.

Types of Fundraisers That May Be Requested

Required Club Structure

If LA Surf approves a fundraiser, the following may be required:

  • Written approval before promotion
  • Use of LA Surf-approved payment systems
  • Club oversight of income and expenses
  • Approval of all flyers, emails, social posts, and marketing
  • Review of vendors, outside providers, or third-party partners
  • Insurance review before the event
  • Facility or field permit confirmation
  • Adult supervision and safety plan
  • Clear use of proceeds
  • Post-event accounting and reporting
  • Additional review for raffles, prize drawings, food sales, or outside vendors.

Rationale

This process is in place to protect the club and our families.

As a nonprofit youth sports organization, LA Surf must ensure that fundraising activities are properly approved, mission-aligned, financially transparent, and not structured for private benefit. We also need to make sure insurance coverage, field permits, vendor requirements, and safety plans are properly handled before an event takes place.

The goal is to support positive fundraising ideas while keeping the organization protected and compliant.
